In December 1885 Henry Doulton received the Albert Medal of the Society of Arts. This small flared top bottle vase was amongst a number of items created at the Lambeth Pottery to commemorate this award. This vase is decorated with swirls on a buff ground with three cartouche/medallions, one showing the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) and the others noting the award and its presentation.
Whilst there is restoration to the neck and rim this vase is remarkable in capturing a moment in time and the evolution of Royal Doulton.
