Royal Worcester Aesthetic Period Vase
A flared top vase decorated in a vivid blue glaze with floral branches or prunus forming the handles. Gilt highlights to top and base rims and around the floral decoration. Manufactured during the ‘aesthetic period’ – a Victorian period where, in this case, ceramics were designed to be beautiful and decorative rather than just for utilitarian use and often featured organic flowing lines and stylised flora – as can be seen in this vase. The ‘Aesthetic Period’ covered approx 1860 – 1900.
Dated 1876
