A fabulous example of a rose jar complete with its inner lid and pierced top cover. Designed to be a pot pourri or rose jar to allow the fragrance to escape though the pierced cover but could be regulated by use of the inner cover. The baluster shaped body stands on a foot decorated with basket weave moulding and has moulded green glazed spirals with gilded highlights. The shoulders of the vase are superbly decorated with pink dog roses and violets by renowned artist George H Cole, whose signature appears in the decoration. In excellent condition with no damage or restoration and minimal wear to the gilding.
